For several years I have been involved with teaching people how to play a range of instruments. This has included working in collaboration with a music therapist.
I have a City and Guilds music teaching qualification for adults (16+). During my exerience I have been rewarded by seeing the health benefits to participants of developing skills in music.
The sessions I facilitate are usually community group sessions, between 2 and 4 hours. A key component is therefore talking to build social capital, and peer group support. The group members have homework and play a part in directing what is on offer in learning material.
